Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo announced on Apr. 10 that it will host a Medical Mission at Home event on May 16, providing free medical and mental health care to the local community.

The event aims to help people in Kokomo who are uninsured, underinsured, or face obstacles accessing traditional healthcare. Organizers say no insurance or appointments are needed for those seeking services.

According to Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo, the one-day event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kokomo Rescue Mission located at 321 W. Mulberry St., and will include medical and mental health services, prescription dispensing through Ascension Rx with support from Dispensary of Hope, spiritual care, food and financial guidance, personal care services, follow-up appointments for ongoing needs, and access to social support resources.

Don Damron, President of Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo said: “Medical Mission at Home is a powerful expression of our commitment to extend our Mission into the community and care for those most in need. In Kokomo, we are bringing together compassionate caregivers, volunteers and community partners to remove barriers and ensure every person has access to the care and dignity they deserve. This work is about more than a single day, it’s about building healthier lives and stronger communities.”

The organization noted that volunteers including associates, physicians, nurses, pharmacists and chaplains will participate alongside partner organizations in serving attendees. Spanish and Korean interpreters will be available during the event.

Medical Mission at Home was established in 2008 by Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo as an effort to provide high-quality healthcare across Indiana.
