Men’s Basketball Suffers Loss Versus Grenadiers

After the Lady Oaks beat Indiana University Southeast in game one of the doubleheader. The men's basketball squad took on the Grenadiers at 3:00 PM for their second River States Conference matchup of the season.

What started off as a good game for the home squad, slowly went downhill. Oakland City took an early lead. Domantas Sakickas played a big role, making four three-pointers in the first half.

About halfway through the first period, the Grenadiers of Indiana University Southeast found their groove. The game that had been close up until that point, turned over. Oakland City lost its lead and it never got back in their hands.

By the end of the first half, IU Southeast was leading by ten. The score was 43-33.

To start of the second half, the Mighty Oaks were able to shrink their deficit. A good free-throw by Drake Moore, followed by a layup from Abdul Wurie, as well as two more good free-throws by Tyquez Priester and a good layup by DJ Redding, put Oakland City back in the game.

After this good run by the Mighty Oaks, the Grenadiers had a good run for themselves as well. Their lead that had shrunk to only six points, quickly grew to a 21-point lead in a matter of 4 minutes. The Mighty Oaks were not able to answer back and the Grenadiers lead kept growing.

In their second River States Conference matchup, the Mighty Oaks fell short, losing by a score of 86-62. Their next conference game will be on November 30, in Richmond, Indiana, where they will play the Red Wolves of Indiana University East. Before that, the team will travel to Kingsport, Tennessee where they will participate in The Show at the Meadowview Resort.
